Marriage Customs in Asia

Marriage customs in Asia are very different. They have the potential to offer interesting perspectives on various societies and ideologies.

A month prior to her marriage, a Chinese bride must scream with her family for an hours every time. Then, ten days later, her grandmother joins in, and by the time the ordeal is over, every woman in the household must be sobbing alongside the wedding. This practice, known as Au Chuang, is thought to facilitate the newlyweds’ childbearing process.

In Japan, it is usual for family members to give the bride a padded coat known as an uchikake before her wedding ceremony that has the design of excavators, waves, and pines. Additionally, she may sell decorated twigs from the revered Sakaki tree to her new residence while donning a hairstyle and an exclusive jacket with her family crest attached.

The female cousins of the wedding greet the bridegroom as soon as he arrives at the venue. To ward off evil eyes, they may use kurta and accomplish puja. The male relatives of the groom will then be greeted and invited to participate in the ceremony of circling the holy blaze during the Milni Ceremony. They may make their commitments to one another and to their individuals here.

The groom’s family will then give her parents bride price ( betrothal gifts ) if their horoscopes are compatible. The couple may then walk around the flames in a circle after that. This is done to keep their goals, such as success, love, and obligation to one another and their communities, in the forefront of their minds.
